Basically a thread to talk about VNs you're currently playing and/or linking to VNDB accounts so others can learn your taste.
My VNDB list (I even have little notes consisting of my personal hottakes)
Do note that I haven't put up every single VN I've played on there. I played Saya no Uta years ago and I've been meaning to replay that game before giving it a score. Plus back in my early days of VN playing I played a fair amount of random nukiges and free Renpy stuff that I don't really remember and thus don't have on there either. Also I've kind of had a slump regarding my hobbies in recent years, including VNs which I'm trying to get back on track.
VNs I'm currently playing:
Carnival: This was the first (and to date, only) untranslated VN I've played. I've decided to play it again as A. I want to get back into playing untranslated VNs because I'm tired of dealing with official translators and their bullshit and B. I first played this game years ago when my Japanese skills were far more novice and I want to play it again now that I'm a bit better. Mostly my curiousity about this game is it's writer, Setoguchi Renya. I like his stuff and general writing style. The game is about a boy who gets accused and arressted for murder, ends up escaping the police, and is now looking to return a hankerchief his childhood friend gave him years ago. There's a bit more to it then that, but that's the general gist. The game is split into three different scenarios with different character POVs, I'm still on the first sceneario as that one's the longest. There's quite a bit of dark humor and general dark content (if you don't like rape and, you're gonna want to avoid this one. Also one of the heroines is a clearly child loli you can molest). I'm defitinitly enjoying it though, especially with how weird the protaginist is.
VA-11 Hall-A (Holy shit I hate this styliezed bullshit title): I don't have the highest opinion of OELN games, but given the amount of praise I've seen for this title, and the fact that I got gifted it on Steam, I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm only about one day in and I'm actually quite impressed. You're a bartender in a cyberpunk hellhole city and you make drinks for people. That's it. Despite that simplistic concept, the writing here is really good so far. It's witty and interesting. I also quite enjoy the general aesthetic of the game as well, where it feels futuristic and retro at the same time.
